Physics Quiz: Part 3
An interactive quiz on Kinematics with Constant Acceleration.
🧠 Key Formulas Review
Uniform Linear Motion (Constant Velocity): The simplest case, where acceleration $a=0$. The displacement is given by: $\Delta x = v \cdot t$
Uniformly Accelerated Motion: When velocity changes at a constant rate. These four equations are your main tools:
- 1. Definition of Acceleration:
$v_f = v_i + at$
- 2. Displacement-Time:
$\Delta x = v_i t + \frac{1}{2}at^2$
- 3. Timeless Equation:
$v_f^2 = v_i^2 + 2a\Delta x$
- 4. Average Velocity:
$\Delta x = \frac{v_i + v_f}{2} t$
Free Fall: A special case where acceleration is due to gravity. We use $a = g \approx -9.8 \text{ m/s}^2$ (assuming 'up' is the positive direction).
Problem 1: Catching a Bus
MediumYou are 15 m away from a bus stop. The bus leaves the stop and travels at a constant speed of 5 m/s. How long will it take you to reach the bus stop if you run at a constant speed of 8 m/s?
