CRITICAL NOTICE: Zero Non-EU Abroad Positions (Articles 1 & 2)

Under Article 1 and Article 2.4 of the official decree, no positions are reserved for non-EU citizens residing abroad at the University of Florence for the 2026/2027 academic year. Only European Union citizens, citizens of equivalent countries (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, San Marino, Holy See), and non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy under Art. 39 comma 5 D.Lgs. 286/1998 are eligible to apply. Non-EU applicants residing abroad must not select UniFI as their primary seat on Universitaly.

Initial Accreditation Condition

Pursuant to Article 2.3 of the Call and Article 7, paragraph 2 of Ministerial Decree No. 1005/2026, the allocation of positions to this newly launched English-taught programme is conditional upon the successful outcome of the ongoing initial ANVUR accreditation procedure.

Enrollment is finalized once formal accreditation clearance is confirmed by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR).

2. Examination Venue & Strict 12:30 Door Closure (Article 6)

Test Venue: Fortezza da Basso, Florence

For candidates sitting the exam in Florence, the test will take place at the historic exhibition complex: Fortezza da Basso – Viale Filippo Strozzi 1, Firenze. Candidates will be distributed into designated testing sectors strictly according to their date of birth (except twins).

⚠️ CRITICAL DOOR CLOSURE RULE (Art. 6.5): The exam starts at 1:30 p.m. To ensure the orderly start of the test, THE DOORS WILL BE CLOSED WITHOUT EXCEPTION AT 12:30 NOON. Candidates arriving after 12:30 will NOT be permitted to enter the venue under any circumstances and will be deemed to have withdrawn.

Published on the University of Florence website on 25 September 2026. Candidates must check their assigned pavilion and entrance sector.

Mandatory Identification

Only original photo ID documents (passport, national ID card) valid under DPR 445/2000 are accepted. No photocopies, scans, or digital copies allowed.

Stationery & Barcodes

Candidates must write exclusively with the black pen provided. At the end, matching barcode stickers must be applied to both the answer sheet and personal data sheet.

3. Test Structure & National Ranking Rules (Article 7 & 10)

Scoring & Eligibility Criteria

  • +1.5 points for each correct answer
  • -0.4 points for each incorrect answer
  • 0 points for omitted answers
  • Minimum eligibility threshold: 20 points for EU & equivalent candidates.

4. OFA (50% Threshold) & Mandatory Italian B2 Requirement (Article 13)

OFA Deficit Threshold (< 50%)

Under Article 13.1, admitted students who achieve a total IMAT score lower than 50% of the maximum score (i.e. below 45 out of 90 points) are assigned Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) in foundational subjects: Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.

OFA fulfillment methods are established by the School of Human Health Sciences (Scuola di Scienze della Salute Umana).

Mandatory B2 Italian by Year 3

Under Article 13.3, students whose native language is not Italian must provide evidence of Italian language proficiency at CEFR level B2 by the start of the third year of study.

This proficiency is required to ensure smooth clinical ward interaction with Italian patients during clerkships starting in the 3rd year.

5. Special Needs & SLD/DSA Requests (Article 5)

Candidates with recognized disabilities (Law 104/1992) or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD/DSA under Law 170/2010) who require compensatory measures or extra time must complete the online form:

  • Disability (Law 104/1992): up to +50% extra time.
  • SLD / DSA (Law 170/2010): up to +30% extra time.
  • Foreign medical certificates must be legalized with a certified Italian or English translation.

6. Enrollment Rules & Administrative Contacts (Articles 11, 12, 15)

4-Day Strict Matriculation Window

Following publication of the national ranking on 26 October 2026:

  • Candidates placed as ASSEGNATO (Assigned) to the University of Florence must complete online enrolment within 4 days (including publication day, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays).
  • Failure to complete enrollment within this peremptory deadline results in irrevocable forfeiture of the assigned place.
  • Candidates placed as PRENOTATO (Booked) may either enroll immediately at UniFI or declare continued interest on Universitaly to await subsequent scrolling rounds.
