The IMAT is a paper-based exam lasting 100 minutes with no scheduled breaks. It consists of 60 multiple-choice questions (5 options each):

Scoring formula: +1.5 points (correct), -0.4 points (incorrect), 0 points (blank). Maximum possible score: 90.0 points. EU minimum cutoff: 20.0 points.
Because the penalty (-0.4) is mild relative to the reward (+1.5), if you can confidently eliminate even one single distractor among the five options, the mathematical expected value of guessing is positive:
E = (1/4 × +1.5) + (3/4 × -0.4) = +0.375 - 0.300 = +0.075 points.
Rule: Never leave a question blank if you can eliminate at least one incorrect answer option.

Candidates must arrive at least 60–90 minutes before the 13:30 start time for identity verification and room assignments.
- Valid photographic ID / Passport: Exact document used during Universitaly registration.
- Universitaly Confirmation: Both registration and payment confirmation receipts.
- Non-EU Students: Entry visa / Permesso di Soggiorno if already in Italy.
Calculators, mobile phones, smartwatches, recording devices, notes, and personal pens are strictly forbidden. Special black pens are supplied by university staff on test day. You may bring a clear water bottle without labels.
